Since our call for support around our possible May Day action, we have received many positive comments from the tumblr-verse, comments which touch us deeply and we are so appreciative of. Those below are a sample of what folks have been saying. Thank you to all of you who said and published these wonderful things, and to the many others who have voiced their support. We are so very grateful for you.
flatandsassy: “I’m privileged to have had actually pretty decent sex ed growing up, but I’ve still found myself heading over to Scarleteen to supplement it countless times (and my sister has received more than one “why are you asking me this when Scarleteen exists” text from me), so I can’t even begin to understand what it means for the many many people who are denied comprehensive sex ed in school. Scarleteen is vital, end of story, so I can’t not donate.”
eeplium: “Scarleteen is the best out there - the world of growing up and being a sexual person would be a lot more confusing without it. Donate.”
zenfrost: “Scarleteen is an essential resource. There’s no way I could quantify how often I’ve turned to them. Don’t let them go down without a fight.”
erikamoen: I just signed up to have a quarterly donation sent to Scarleteen. This is an invaluable resource and I urge everyone who cares about comprehensive sex education to help out if they can.
antarcticanarchic: I’ve made a couple of one-time donations to Scarleteen over the years, but this time I (antarcticanarchic, formerly aboutwhistles) set up a $15 recurring monthly donation, because this is a site that I wholeheartedly support and have relied on a lot in the past for information, especially about relationship and communication and consent issues. I encourage my followers to give what they can, and signal boost if funds are tight :)
aislinnbakes: “I just set up a quarterly donation to Scarleteen! I can remember being a proto-queer, bumblingly sexual, peculiar tween/teen and finding this site. It was my go-to for ages and still has amazing information and does incredible work. If you feel like quality, genuinely inclusive sex-ed is priority, help Scarleteen stay afloat!”
bebinn ”Scarleteen is the best sex ed website out there. Literally any question you have, they’ve answered it, or will answer in great detail if you ask. I just threw them 20 bucks. Please consider doing the same!”
landofla ”Considering the state of public school sex ed in huge swaths of the country, scarleteen performs an amazingly valuable service.”
@untanglingunraveling"signal boost. Scarleteen taught me a LOT of what i know about my body, my sexuality, how to have sex in a safe, happy, healthy way, how to have relationships in a safe, happy, healthy way. I will be donating as much as i can but i don’t have the consistency of income/budgeting to set up a monthly donation. if you do have that consistency, PLEASE consider setting that up. it would be a really valuable to scarleteen and to the internet as a whole. Scarleteen is where a good porn blog refers underage visitors. scarleteen is where a peer educator refers a student. scarleteen is where i sent friends all through high school. it’s an amazing site doing amazing work.
also, for my college apps, one school asked if i could work at any company or organization, where and why. i couldn’t think of anything because despite having a dream now (comprehensive holistic health education for youth) i don’t know any orgs that really do that. i think scarleteen is what i will write about, though. i will also write about imagining a world where they are fully funded and could expand to other forms of health education than just sex ed with the same positive open informative supportive vibe.”
